His selection, effective April 1, concludes a national search conducted by the board of directors. Wally will stay on during the month of April to ensure a smooth transition.
James has been part of PNW since 2008 when he pedaled his way across the United States to begin a residency with us. Since that time he has been a resident, teacher, volunteer, and studio tech for the pottery. He has also continued to grow his own practice while teaching ceramics at South Seattle College. Having brought creativity and joy to the pottery, James is ready to continue on our current path with his own ideas and energy.
Wally will leave the pottery in May to pursue new creative interests. He’s been an outstanding leader and steward for the past 10+ years. We thank him so very much for his commitment to excellence in ceramic arts education and wish him the best in his new creative adventures.
Know that the pottery is in great shape and in very capable hands as we head toward our 50th anniversary over the next 18 months.
James is often in the studio in his current capacity as teacher and tech. Please take a moment to congratulate him.
